10th IHF Men’s Beach Handball World Championship concluded in Greece

The 10th IHF Men’s Beach Handball World Championship concluded in Greece today with Croatia claiming the title by defeating the Denmark in the final by 2–0. The event took place at the Karteros Beach Sports Center, Heraklion, Greece, from 21st to 26th June 2022.
The Islamic Republic of Iran and Qatar are the two Asian countries that have qualified for the event. I. R. Iran was drawn in Group C along with Denmark, Norway, and Egypt, whereas Qatar was drawn in Group D along with Brazil, Portugal, and New Zealand.
The results of I. R. Iran in the preliminary group stage are as follows:
- I. R. Iran VS Denmark 0–2
- I. R. Iran VS Norway 1–2
- I. R. Iran VS Egypt 2–1
The results of Qatar in the preliminary group stage are as follows:
- Qatar VS Brazil 2–1
- Qatar VS Portugal 2–1
- Qatar VS New Zealand 2–0
Both I. R. Iran and Qatar advanced to the main round and were seeded in Group II along with Brazil, Denmark, Norway, and Portugal.
The results of Qatar and I. R. Iran in the main group are as follows:
- I. R. Iran VS Brazil 0–2
- Qatar VS Norway 0–2
- I. R. Iran VS Portugal 2–1
- Qatar VS Denmark 2–1
- I. R. Iran VS Qatar 1–2
Qatar finished 2nd in the main group and advanced to the quarter-finals, where they lost to hosts Greece by 2–1.
Qatar finished in 5th position at the event, whereas I.R. Iran finished in 9th position out of a total of 16 participating teams.
