1st IHF Four-a-Side Wheelchair Handball World Championship concluded in Egypt

The 1st IHF Four-a-Side Wheelchair Handball World Championship concluded today in Egypt, with Brazil claiming the title by defeating Egypt by 2–1 in the final. The competition took place at Dr. Hassan Moustafa Sports Halls in 6th of October City, Egypt, from 22 to 25 September 2022.

India was the only Asian country to participate in the competition, which was contested by a total of six teams from around the world.

All the teams played once against each other in the preliminary group before progressing to the final placement matches. The competition was played with mixed teams, i.e., each team must have at least two female players, while at least one female player per team must be on the court at any time.

The results of India in the preliminary group were as follows:

  • India vs Egypt 0–2
  • India vs Chile 0–2
  • India vs Brazil 0–2
  • India vs Netherlands 2–0
  • India vs Slovenia 1–2

In the 5th – 6th place match Netherlands defeated India by 2–1. India finished in 6th position at the event out of a total of 6 participating teams.
