The 48th Foundation Anniversary of the Asian Handball Federation

Exactly 48 years ago, on 26 August 1974, marked the foundation day of the Asian Handball Federation (AHF).

The Founder of the Asian Handball Federation (AHF), His Highness Sheikh Fahad Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who was the Head of the Kuwaiti delegation to the 7th Asian Games held in Tehran, Iran, presented a motion to the Executive Committee of the Asian Games Federation (AGF) requesting recognition of the handball game and also the formation of the Asian Handball Federation.

Accordingly, the Asian Games Federation, during its meeting on 26 August 1974, recognised handball as an official game for nineteen at that time.

At the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Fahad Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah (Kuwait) was appointed as Interim President and Mr. Syed Abul Hassan (Pakistan) as Interim Secretary General of the Federation. Both officials were also given the responsibilities of drafting the AHF’s statutes and by-laws.

Handball in Asia is developing day by day since the foundation of the Asian Handball Federation. The AHF wants to thank everyone who has contributed to the development of AHF and handball in Asia and will not forget the hardwork and dedication of everyone, especially the following:
