The draw for the 28th IHF Men’s Handball World Championship was held today, on 2 July 2022, at 17:00 hrs. at the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, Poland.
The competition will feature 32 teams, with 17 teams coming from Europe; 5 from Asia; 5 from Africa; 4 from South and Central America; and 1 from North America and the Caribbean.
The draw was conducted by Chairperson of the IHF Commission of Organising and Competitions (COC) Per Bertelsen (Denmark), assisted by two former stars, Poland’s Slawomir Szmal and Sweden’s Magnus Wislander, former recipients of the IHF Male Player of the Year title, who have won multiple medals at the IHF Men’s Handball World Championships. His Excellency Dr. Hassan Moustafa, President of the International Handball Federation (IHF), was also present during the draw ceremony.
