The Asian Handball Federation (AHF) is pleased to announce that the draw for the 18th Asian Men’s Junior Handball Championship will take place on Saturday, 4 May 2024 from 16:00 hours onwards. The draw will be held at the headquarters of the Jordan Handball Federation (JHF), located at Princess Sumaya Hall, Al-Hussein Youth City, Amman, Jordan.
A total of 13 teams from across Asia will be participating in the competition, scheduled to be held in Amman, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, from 16 to 26 July 2024. The teams will be divided into four groups, with Group A, Group B and Group C comprising three teams each and Group D consisting of four teams.
The draw pots for the championship are as follows:
Pot 1: Jordan, Japan, Bahrain, Kuwait
Pot 2: Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Republic of Korea, Islamic Republic of Iran, India
Pot 3: Qatar, Oman, People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong-China, Chinese Taipei
The draw will be held in the presence of AHF Finance Director Bader Mohammed Al-Theyab, AHF Events Manager Marwan Mazen, JHF President Prof. Dr. Taiysir Mansi, and representatives from the participating teams.
This marks the third occasion that the competition will be hosted by the Jordan Handball Federation (JHF), who previously hosted it in 2008 and 2016. Previously, the championship was due to be held in Dammam, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, but was shifted to be hosted in Amman, Jordan.
Furthermore, the championship will serve as a qualifying event for the 25th IHF Men’s Junior (U21) Handball World Championship in Poland, slated for June/July 2025. The top four teams from this competition will secure qualification spots for the World Championship.
