The Asian Handball Federation (AHF) is pleased to announce that the 10th AHF Asian Men’s & Women’s Beach Handball Championship has been awarded to the Oman Handball Association (OHA). This prestigious championship will take place from 1 to 10 May 2025 in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman.
This will be the fourth time Muscat has hosted the Asian Beach Handball Championship, following the inaugural event in 2004, the 3rd edition in 2011, and the 5th edition in 2015. With the return of the championship to Oman after a 10-year gap, the Sultanate reaffirms its position as a key destination for international beach handball events in Asia.
Oman is one of the competition’s most successful teams, having secured seven medals in nine editions, including one gold medal in the inaugural 2004 event and six silver medals. Their consistent podium finishes highlight Oman’s prominence in Asian beach handball.
Qatar remains the most successful team in the competition’s history, having won six gold medals and one silver medal. Alongside Qatar and Oman, only Islamic Republic of Iran and Islamic Republic of Pakistan have achieved gold medals in this championship. Pakistan clinched the title in 2007 in Bandar Abbas, Iran, while Iran took home the gold in 2022 when they hosted in Tehran.
In addition to determining Asia’s top teams, the championship will serve as a qualifying event for the 12th IHF Men’s & Women’s Beach Handball World Championship scheduled for 2026. The top teams from this tournament will earn qualification spots, adding a competitive edge to this year’s event in Muscat.
