The men’s handball competition of the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games concluded in Turkey yesterday with Qatar claiming the title by defeating the hosts Turkey in the final by 26–23. The competition took place at the Selçuklu Municipality International Sports Hall, Selçuklu, Turkey, from 8 to 14 August 2022.
The Islamic Republic of Iran, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia are the three Asian countries that participated in the competition. Saudi Arabia and Qatar were drawn in Group A along with Morocco, whereas the Islamic Republic of Iran was drawn in Group B along with Turkey and Azerbaijan.

In the semi-final match, Qatar defeated I.R. Iran by 24–23, whereas Saudi Arabia lost to hosts Turkey by 25–26.
In the bronze medal match, I.R. Iran defeated Saudi Arabia by 30–21. Qatar defeated host Turkey in the final by 26–23.
Qatar is the third country to win men’s handball gold at the Islamic Solidarity Games. Algeria in 2005 and Saudi Arabia in the 2017 edition are the other teams to have won the title.
