Qatar men's youth handball team to get ready for Asian Championship

The Qatar men’s youth handball team will hold a training camp in Egypt from 6 to 14 August 2022 in preparation for participating in the 9th Asian Men’s Youth (U19) Handball Championship to be held in Bahrain from 20 to 31 August 2022. The competition is a qualifying event for the 10th IHF Men’s Youth (U19) Handball World Championship to be held in Croatia in July/August 2023.

During the camp, the team will play a number of friendly matches, through which the coaching staff seeks to reach the highest levels of readiness before entering the continental merit competitions.

The draw for the 9th Asian Youth Championship placed the Qatari national team in Group B along with Japan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, and Kuwait. Group A includes Bahrain, Iran, India, the Republic of Korea, and Uzbekistan.

The Qatari national team will start its matches in the championship by facing the UAE on August 20, then Saudi Arabia on August 21, before facing Iraq on August 23 and then Japan on August 24, before concluding its matches by meeting Kuwait on August 26.

The Qatari men’s youth handball team was crowned with the Asian Championship title twice in 2010 and 2012.
