The Asian Handball Federation is pleased to announce that the re-draw for the 10th Asian Men’s Youth (U19) Handball Championship will take place on Thursday, 15 August 2024. The draw ceremony will commence at 17:00 hrs at the headquarters of the Jordan Handball Federation, located at Princess Sumaya Hall in Amman, Jordan.
The championship was originally scheduled to be held in Shiraz, Islamic Republic of Iran. However, due to the current situation and safety concerns in the Islamic Republic of Iran, the venue has been changed, necessitating a re-draw.
A total of 13 teams from across Asia will participate in the competition, which is scheduled to be held in Amman, Jordan, from 3rd to 14th September 2024. The teams will be divided into four groups: Groups A, B, and C will each consist of three teams, while Group D will comprise four teams.
The draw pots for the championship are as follows:
- Pot 1: Jordan, Republic of Korea, I. R. Iran, Saudi Arabia
- Pot 2: Japan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar
- Pot 3: Iraq, India, United Arab Emirates
- Pot 4: Chinese Taipei, P. R. China
This edition of the championship marks the fourth time Jordan will host the event, following their successful hosting in 2008, 2014, and 2018. The defending champion and record titleholder is the Republic of Korea, which secured victories in 2005, 2014, and 2022.
The competition will also serve as a qualification event for the 11th IHF Men’s Youth (U19) Handball World Championship in Slovenia, scheduled for July/August 2025. The top five teams from this competition will earn qualification spots for the World Championship.
