His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah (Kuwait) is a member of the Kuwaiti Royal Family who served as the 2nd President of the Asian Handball Federation (AHF) from 1991 to November 5, 2021.

Biography

His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah is a member of the House of Sabah and was born on August 12, 1963, in Kuwait. He is the son of His Highness Sheikh Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the grandson of the former Emir of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmad studied in Kuwait and got his university degree in political science from Kuwait University. He was also educated at the Kuwait Military Academy and attained the rank of Major in the Kuwaiti Army. He served in the Kuwait Army from 1985 to 1990.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmad held various political positions, as follows:

  • Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of Kuwait (18 June 2023 – 17 January 2024)
  • Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Housing Affairs of Kuwait (2010 – 2011)
  • Minister of Oil of Kuwait (10 Feb 2002 – 7 Feb 2006)
  • Secretary General of Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) (1 Jan 2005 – 31 Dec 2005)
  • Minister of Information of Kuwait (2001 – 2003)
  • Chairman of Public Authority for Youth and Sports of Kuwait (2000 – 2001)
