Stage set for draw of 20th Asian Women’s Handball Championship in Almaty

The Asian Handball Federation (AHF) is pleased to announce that the draw for the 20th Asian Women’s Handball Championship will take place on Sunday, 22 September 2024 from 12:00 hours onwards. The draw will be held at the headquarters of the Kazakhstan Handball Federation (KHF) in Almaty.

A total of 10 teams from across Asia will be participating in the competition, scheduled to be held in Almaty, Kazakhstan, from 1 to 12 December 2024. The teams will be divided into two groups of five teams each.

Draw pots:

Pot 1: Kazakhstan, Republic of Korea

Pot 2: Japan, P. R. China

Pot 3: I. R. Iran, India

Pot 4: Uzbekistan, Hong Kong-China

Pot 5: Australia, Singapore

This marks the third occasion that the competition will be hosted by the Kazakhstan Handball Federation who previously hosted it in 2002 and 2010.

Furthermore, the championship will serve as a qualifying event for the 27th IHF Women’s Handball World Championship in Germany/Netherlands, scheduled for December 2025. The top four teams from this competition will secure qualification spots for the World Championship.
