The Asian Handball Federation’s (AHF) Executive Committee has awarded the hosting rights of the 8th Asian Women’s Beach Handball Championship and the 2nd Asian Women’s Youth (U19) Beach Handball Championship to the Handball Association of Thailand (HAT).
The AHF Executive Committee approved the proposal to organise both the championships simultaneously from 25 to 30 April 2022 in Bangkok, the capital and most populous city of the Kingdom of Thailand.
8th Asian Women’s Beach Handball Championship
The Asian Women’s Beach Handball Championship is returning to Thailand after 5 years as they also hosted the 6th edition of the championship back in 2017 in Pattaya. The previous edition of the championship was held in Weihai, China in 2019, with the hosts claiming their debut title in a round-robin championship. Vietnam won the silver medal, while Chinese Taipei won the bronze medal. Thailand was fourth in that championship, but they have won the gold medal in the 2013, 2015, and 2017 editions of the championship.
2nd Asian Women’s Youth (U19) Beach Handball Championship
The 2nd Asian Women’s Youth (U19) Beach Handball Championship will be for under-19 players born between 1 January 2004 and 31 December 2006. The first edition of the championship was held in 2016 in Pattaya, Thailand, with China winning the title, whereas hosts Thailand and Chinese Taipei claimed silver and bronze medals, respectively.
