24th AHF Ordinary Congress concluded

The 24th Ordinary Congress of the Asian Handball Federation (AHF) was held on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, by video conference. This was the second Congress to take place virtually, after the previous Ordinary Congress held in 2021, which was the first one to be held by video conference. The Congress saw participation from 31 out of the 44 member federations, demonstrating a collective commitment to fostering the growth and progress of handball within the region.

The Congress was chaired by AHF Acting President and 1st Vice-President Yoshihide Watanabe (Japan), and His Excellency Dr. Hassan Moustafa (Egypt), the President of the International Handball Federation, also attended the Congress.

The administrative report, presented by AHF Secretary General Muhammad Shafiq (Pakistan), provided a comprehensive overview of the federation’s activities and achievements over the last two years. The financial report, presented by AHF Treasurer Bader Mohammed Al-Theyab (Kuwait), highlighted the prudent financial management and stewardship that underpin the AHF’s operations. Both reports received unanimous approval from the Congress, reflecting the faith and trust of member federations in the AHF’s leadership and transparency.

The Congress also featured presentations and unanimous approvals of the AHF Commission reports, which highlighted the dedicated work of various commissions in promoting handball across Asia.

An important development was the approval of the AHF Calendar for the years 2024 and 2025. This calendar will serve as a strategic roadmap for the organization and development of handball events in the region.

The next i.e. 25th AHF Ordinary Congress will take place in Egypt on fringes of the 40th IHF Ordinary Congress.
