AHF mourns the passing of Dr. Roshan Lal Anand

The Asian Handball Federation (AHF) deeply mourns the passing of Padma Shri Dr. Roshan Lal Anand, former Secretary General of AHF, who left for his heavenly abode at the age of 100 on Tuesday, 17th December 2024, at his residence in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, India, due to old age.

Born on 19th January 1924 in Amritsar, British India, Dr. Anand was a visionary leader and a towering figure in international sports administration. He served as the Secretary General of the Asian Handball Federation from 2000 to 2013, during which he played a pivotal role in promoting and advancing handball across Asia. He was also a dedicated leader of Indian sports, serving as the 7th Director-General of the Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports (NIS), Patiala, for a record 16 years, and as President of the Handball Federation of India from 1985 to 2010, for a record 25 years. His contributions extended beyond Asia, serving as the President of the Commonwealth Handball Association (2000-2013) and as a member of the International Handball Federation’s Arbitration Commission (2001-2005
