Islamic Republic of Iran won the 2nd Asian Men's Youth Beach Handball Championship

The Islamic Republic of Iran won the Asian Men’s Youth (U-19) Beach Handball Championship for the first time ever. Six (6) teams were competing in I. R. Iran for the continental title and a place at the 2nd IHF Men’s & Women’s Youth Beach Handball World Championship in Greece in June 2022. During the competition at the Tehran’s Iran Sports Complex, held from 22 to 28 March 2022, fifteen (15) games were played in total. I. R. Iran won all five (5) of its matches and was crowned as gold medal winners. This is also I. R. Iran’s first medal at the championship ever.


There was close contest for the silver and bronze medal between Jordan, Pakistan and Qatar. Jordan defeated Qatar, Qatar defeated Pakistan, and Pakistan defeated Jordan in the group matches. This left the trio with 6 points each. Jordan and Qatar claimed the silver and bronze medals, respectively due to the goal difference. Despite having fought fiercely, Pakistan can only finish fourth.


India finished fifth at the event, where they only won one match against Afghanistan, who placed sixth and last but did not win a match at all.


The Islamic Republic of Iran, Jordan, and Qatar will represent Asia in the 2nd IHF Men’s & Women’s Youth Beach Handball World Championship to be held in Heraklion, Greece, from 14 to 19 June 2022. All the three will make their debut in the IHF Men’s & Women’s Youth Beach Handball World Championship this time.
