Stage set for draw of 10th Asian Men’s Youth Handball Championship

The Asian Handball Federation is pleased to announce that the draw for the 10th Asian Men’s Youth (U19) Handball Championship will take place on Sunday, 3 March 2024. The draw ceremony will commence at 14:30 hrs. at the headquarters of the Islamic Republic of Iran Handball Federation in Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran.

A total of 13 teams from across Asia will be participating in the competition, scheduled to be held in Tehran, I. R. Iran, from 25 August to 3 September 2024. The teams will be divided into four groups, with Group A, Group B and Group C comprising three teams each and Group D consisting of four teams.

The draw pots for the championship are as follows:
Pot 1: I. R. Iran, Republic of Korea, Saudi Arabia, Japan
Pot 2: Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Iraq
Pot 3: India, United Arab Emirates
Pot 4: Chinese Taipei, Jordan, P. R. China

This edition of the championship marks the second time that Tehran and I. R. Iran will be hosting the event, following their successful hosting in 2006.

The defending champion and record titleholder is the Republic of Korea, who clinched victory in 2005, 2014, and 2022.

The competition will also serve as a qualification event for the 11th IHF Men’s Youth (U19) Handball World Championship in Slovenia, scheduled for July/August 2025. The top 5 teams from this competition will earn qualification spots for the World Championship.
